Anti-Bribery & Corruption Framework

Manulife Holdings Berhad and its subsidiaries (“Manulife Malaysia”) are committed to conduct its business ethically in accordance with Manulife Financial Code of Business Conduct and Ethics (“Code”) and in compliance with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (“MACC”).

To achieve this commitment, Manulife adopts a zero tolerance approach against all forms of bribery and corruption. Manulife Malaysia has put in place an Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) Framework that shall serve to demonstrate Manulife Malaysia’s procedures and controls to prevent its directors, officers and employees from undertaking such conduct stipulated under Section 17A of the MACC. The Framework shall also provide as an underpinning document for Manulife Malaysia pertaining to ABC guidance and measures.

This Framework is applicable to all business dealings involving Manulife Malaysia. It is applicable to all directors, officers and employees of Manulife as well as persons associated with Manulife Malaysia*. 

*Persons associated with Manulife Malaysia includes consultants, suppliers, contracts, trainees, agents and sponsors. It includes any person “who performs services for or on behalf of the commercial organisation” – Section 17A(6) of MACC 2009.

Whistle Blowing Statement

Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 
In an effort to encourage whistleblowers to come forward with information on any alleged improper conduct, the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 provides safe avenues for them to make disclosures of such alleged improper conduct to the relevant authorities in good faith, by protecting their identities, providing them with immunity from civil and criminal proceedings and protecting them from detrimental action. 

Whistleblowers may choose to report to regulators or law enforcement agencies directly as prescribed by the Act including, but not limited to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Police, and the Labour Department. In this regard, potential whistleblowers may wish to seek legal advice from a legal practitioner before making the report.

To ensure the highest level of service, for regular service-related inquiries and complaints related to accounts or policies we encourage customers to lodge their reports and inquiries via the regular customer service channel. Customers may contact the local Compliance team by email at MY_COMPLIANCE@manulife.com to raise concerns about illegal, unethical or questionable practices involving Manulife staff misconduct.
